The following enhancements (apps, widgets, scripts, etc.) are available to all OPAL libraries at no cost. Additionally, many of the widgets seen below can be further customized or styled to meet your needs. To get started with including one of the following in your own EDS profiles, or if you would like to explore other possibilities, send a note to OPALHelp.
Note that as of 2020 Plumx Metrics is no longer supported and should be removed from your profile.
The Related Guides widget passes your user's search terms to LibGuides and lists any matching results in the sidebar. In the example below, the user has searched for Forensic Science with relevant guides from LibGuides on the right.
The OhioLINK and SearchOhio Widgets can each be enabled in the sidebar, automatically populated with the user's current search terms. This may be a good option for libraries that do not include the OhioLINK or OhioLINK -- Low Relevancy catalogs in their main EDS profile.
This widget displays a placard above the first search result when a user searches for a given word or phrase. In the example below, a Library Hours placard appears when a user search for hour, hours, or library hours. This placard is highly customizable and can be styled to match your EDS.
For libraries that have enabled the OhioLINK or OhioLINK -- Low Relevancy catalog, you may find that your library's location will appear very low in the holdings table. This script reorders the table so that your library's holdings appear first. In the example below, Defiance's holdings have been lifted to the first result in the holdings table.
This script moves the AP Videos widget to the bottom of the results list. This is helpful for those libraries that do not want to disable the AP Videos Related Information widget in EBSCO Admin, but who do not want it to appear at the top of the search results. Below you can see the videos appear after the final search result.
