It is with great excitement we announce our first joint conference, a partnership between OPAL and PALNI.  As we co-plan/co-sponsor the 2020 conference, we are also embarking on another new frontier – a virtual conference. Due to the current health crisis, the conference has moved to an online format. This momentous opportunity allows for both consortia to draw on their collective wisdom to collaborate, network, and learn from each other as we face similar issues in higher education. Many initiatives and long-term professional relationships have been forged over the years as we meet to connect, share research and best practices, and problem solve among not-for-profit, private academic libraries.

This year members from both PALNI and OPAL will enjoy occasions for virtual conversations and engagement in a supportive, collegial atmosphere, with a variety of formal sessions and informal discussions. We will explore practical ways we can act with agency to meet the immediate challenges of the new academic year, and advocate for our long-term visions. Non-members are welcome to submit presentation proposals.

Recording and Image Policy
Most of the speakers and presenters are graciously allowing us to record their sessions, and these will be posted to the conference website, with the exception of small group conversations, which will not be recorded. If a presenter asks participants not to record a particular session, we ask you to abide by that request. While this is a virtual conference and there will not be traditional photographers present, OPAL and PALNI may take some screenshots or other image captures of the event to help promote a sense of community and record our history of activity. By participating in the virtual conference, you acknowledge that your voice or comments may be recorded as part of the conference proceedings and agree to allow OPAL and PALNI to record or take images, which may include you, in all media formats.
