OPAL members and guests (colleagues in academic libraries) are invited to submit proposals for the upcoming conference. We are looking for presentations that balance theory and practice and are presented in an engaging manner. Please consider submitting a proposal, even if you are still working out details. The planning task force will be sharing tips to help you successfully adapt your presentation to an online format and host a practice session to test connectivity and explore the conference platform in advance.
For details about suggested topics and presentation formats, or to submit a proposal, visit the conference website.
The deadline for proposals is Friday, May 14, 2021.

As OhioNET continues to offer online-only training, we are excited to launch a new highly interactive training format - Virtual Workshops! These online events will be hosted using the Zoom Meetings platform and will make use of built-in tools like group chat and breakout rooms to facilitate discussion and interaction between participants. Virtual workshops will be designed for real-time attendance and engagement and will provide access to more in-depth, project-driven topics. Only virtual workshop registrants will have access to session recordings — links to these events will not be available in the Training Archive. OPAL members are eligible for OhioNET member pricing.
The first virtual workshop series, Shout it from the Rooftop: Create Engaging Annual Reports, will be presented by OPAL's very own Kristin Cole (Otterbein University). While the event is currently full, you can register and be added to the waiting list. You will be notified if spaces become available. In the meantime, check out the OhioNET Events Calendar for webinars on a wide variety of relevant topics, including an upcoming virtual workshop series on grant writing.
Rebecca Pope-Ruark, PhD has launched the agile academic, a podcast for women in higher ed. Her goal is "to interview 100 inspiring women about their experiences pursuing purpose, compassion, connection, and balance in the academy and beyond." It's a space to share insights, stories and humor - and realize others have also been awake at 4 am eating dry Cheerios.
CIRM has completed evaluation of the Educational Films & Documentaries Collection in OhioLINK's Digital Resource Commons (DRC) and selected 638 titles from the Films for Humanities and Sciences (FFHS) to be hosted at the Films on Demand website for 3 years, starting March 1, 2021. The title list is available for review on the DRC Content page (requires Ostaff login). The remaining videos will be deslected and the records removed from the catalog. These changes are necessary to support the discontinuation of Adobe Flash.
The Ambrose videos from the collection are currently under review and updates on those will be forthcoming.
