Details will be posted on the conference website
As OPAL members consider local implications and strategies, we are exploring the system options available to address this issue, including retrospective updates and maintaining alternative subject headings, since local changes can be superseded by batch loading records, authority work, and other factors.
A gap in coverage remains for 2019 Sage Business Cases. OhioLINK is working with EBSCO and Sage to establish the correct knowledgebase collection for 2019 and will make an announcement once more information is available.
Records for the OhioLINK Sage Business Cases collection (GEER) have been loaded into the catalog for OPAL and will display in your library scope if you have opted in.
Just a reminder that the Teaching Notes activation code for all OhioLINK members is OhioLINKSBC. Faculty will need to request this code from the library in order to view the Teaching Notes.
Sage has a step-by-step instruction video for setting up a faculty member's account with the activation code for Teaching Notes. This information is covered in webinars as well. Dates and times for webinars are on the OhioLINK OStaff page. Please refer to GEER Resources for librarians page (with OStaff login) and GEER for Faculty page for full session descriptions. In addition, recordings will be posted on OStaff afterwards.
So far, the Sage Business Cases are the only MARC records that have been released for GEER Resources. We will load the others as OhioLINK makes them available.
The OPAL Cataloging Manual has been updated with a new section on Record Loading to reflect our changing and expanding resource cataloging and management landscape. Find out more about how record sets are added to and maintained in the OPAL Catalog, options for automatic record delivery of locally subscribed collections, and OhioLINK collection loading.
As part of the OhioLINK Library Directors WebEx on February 4 (1:30-3 p.m.), Nancy Kirkpatrick, Executive Director/CEO of OhioNET, will share insights she has gathered from talking with BIPOC librarians around the state about what it’s like to work in Ohio’s academic libraries. Learn what we are doing well, and where we can make positive changes. Then Amy Pawlowski will outline OhioLINK’s Library Diversity Initiative and how institutions can participate in this important effort. Register for this event.
If you have purchased the LibKey/BrowZine package through OhioLINK or are considering Third Iron products, the latest OPAL Tips blog post provides an overview of the account set-up process and breaks down the various LibKey configuration options that Third Iron makes available.
Welcome your new OPAL colleagues!
